Elisabeth Michel, MPH
Chief Executive Officer
In her role as CEO, Elisabeth draws on her background in health behavior to align Canopy’s technology with findings from the best of public health research. She is also responsible for managing partnerships as well as many of Canopy's day-to-day operations.
Before co-founding Canopy, she worked for the Institute for Public Health Innovation in Washington, D.C. and as William Davidson Institute Fellow in Rwanda. Throughout her career she has provided direct service to vulnerable populations, conducted health policy research, delivered successful public health programs, strengthened hospital administrative systems, and brought health equity training to higher education. She is a frequent public speaker on topics regarding health equity, entrepreneurship, and public health innovation.
Elisabeth received a B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
Ann Duong, MHI
Chief Technology Officer
As CTO, Ann helps ensure Canopy’s software meets industry standards for security and excellence. Drawing from her background in data analytics and natural language processing, she helps position Canopy for the future of tech.
Ann’s prior experience includes developing a tablet-based electronic medical record for use in low-income treatment centers, creating a portal for educators across the U.S. to access leading research insights, and establishing an evaluation plan for medical testing laboratories throughout East Africa. In addition, she was a 2015 Global Health Corp fellow based in Rwanda and serves as a strategic advisor for the Ihangane Project, where she helps architect digital tools and databases to support health.
Ann holds a B.S. in Economics of Health & Development from the University of Michigan and a Master of Health Informatics from the University of Michigan School of Information and School of Public Health.
Brandon Keelean, MDes
Chief Design Officer
Focused on bringing human-centered design practices and ethnographic research to advance care planning, as CDO Brandon is responsible for Canopy’s product design, user research activities and brand.
Prior to Canopy, Brandon worked as a designer and strategist for Doblin developing new service offerings for Fortune 500 companies and building innovation practices tailored to a given organization’s culture, capability, and capacity. His work in innovation has brought him face to face with the challenges of modern medicine as he worked with health systems to improve patient experience, non-profits seeking to reduce medical errors around the world, and technology companies looking to understand the future of artificial intelligence and cognitive technology in healthcare settings. During his career as a designer, he has also crafted communication strategy, brand identity, visual communication, product design, and motion graphics for organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, BMW, Mastercard, and Sony.
Brandon received a B.F.A. in Design from the University of Notre Dame and holds a Master of Design from the University of Michigan Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.
